Desktop Support Technician
Independent Project Analysis, Inc. (IPA) is seeking a Desktop Support Technician to perform Level 2 desktop support.
Duties:

Perform Level 2 desktop support for all workstations.

Documentation of problems reported and implemented solutions.

Prepare computers for new and existing employees.
-
Install and maintain desktop and laptop workstations, printers and peripherals.

Preserve the integrity of profiles and system configurations.
-
Securing of unused workstations.
-
Refurbish unused workstations.
-
Test and inventory functioning and non-functioning components.
-
Arrange for disposal of non-functional equipment.
-
Setting up and securing audio-visual equipment as needed.
-
PBX and telecommunications equipment setup and maintenance.
-
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
The Desktop Support Technician administers desktop and laptop workstations and responds to user calls for support, diagnosing equipment and configuration issues with a variety of applications at user's desk, via e-mail, via phone and over a VPN to our remote offices. Required qualifications include:

Two years desktop support experience in a Microsoft Network environment.

Full understanding of typical PC hardware and software installation.

Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve software and hardware problems.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-
Excellent customer service and problem solving skills.
-
Ability to adhere to procedures, maintain accurate and detailed records, and demonstrate commitment to solving user problems.

Ability to take responsibility for assigned tasks and prioritize workload in a fast paced environment

Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office
The ideal candidate will possess:
Advanced Windows XP operating system knowledge and troubleshooting skills; experience with RedHat and SuSE based LINUX distributions; experience with Novell Netware client and/or server software; two years of administration experience with Microsoft networking and productivity software; hardware installation skills; familiarity with network security hardware; the willingness and desire to learn new systems; the ability to communicate with end users; excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; the ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment; the ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously; and the ability to work as a team member, as well as independently.
