Petroleum Exploration and Production

IPA’s Exploration and Production (E&P) Business Area’s mission is to help clients navigate today’s ever-changing world of projects by working with their project teams to ensure that their portfolio of capital projects is designed and defined to deliver excellent results. We work with oil and gas companies across the globe through our four E&P centers in IPA’s North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and Europe offices.

The E&P industry’s historical performance on capital discipline is not stellar. As an industry, we tend to overspend/overrun and under produce vis-à-vis our promises. As larger amounts of capital are risked in more challenging projects, efficient and effective capital project management becomes even more critical if we are to achieve outstanding corporate results.

Our Services

We serve two distinct clients: the corporate centers responsible for ensuring that a company’s project system creates assets that will deliver superior results and individual project teams responsible for delivering their specific project. Being involved at the “command” level and at the “field” level creates an invaluable real-time project information loop that we use to help you achieve continuous improvement. This distinguishes us from other entities that may only be involved with “C-level” clients, but are so far removed from the actual work that their strategies do not work when they hit the ground.

Our services are grounded in our extensive database of more than 1,200 actual industry projects and our proprietary “Pathways to Asset Success” model of developing an E&P Asset. We also support the industry through the Upstream Industry Benchmarking Consortium (UIBC) and the Upstream Cost Engineering Committee (UCEC).".
