Offshore Individual Turnaround Analysis

For individual offshore turnarounds, IPA conducts evaluations at three different points in the turnaround’s life cycle:

  • For the prospective analysis, which is usually completed 3 to 6 months prior to shutdown, we compare the level of your turnaround’s planning, team integration, and clarity of business objectives with those of Industry. We also provide recommendations for achieving a Best Practical level of Turnaround Front-End Loading (TFEL); these recommendations include details on the appropriate time period to complete planning tasks. In addition, we review cost and schedule targets.

  • At the readiness review, which is typically conducted 40 to 50 days before the turnaround begins, we evaluate the level of TFEL achieved by the end of the planning phase and compare this to Industry and Best-in-Class turnarounds. Updated schedule and cost targets are also reviewed.

  • After the turnaround has been completed, we conduct a closeout review. The closeout report includes an evaluation of cost and schedule predictability, safety metrics, and labor hour growth; these outcomes are compared to Industry and Best-in-Class. Lessons learned for future turnarounds are also included in the report.
