IPA is the leading research organization focused on improving capital effectiveness. As a company, we:

• Identify issues and develop studies to advance the state of knowledge
• Lead and promote an active research agenda
• Integrate research results into products to provide maximum value

We use several mechanisms to achieve our research goals. This includes discussing ideas with clients and industry representatives to define a study. In addition, we develop databases to serve as a foundation for quantitative and replicable results and link practices to project outcomes so that systematic improvement is possible. Further, we train and support our employees to become world-class researchers.

IPA history has repeatedly demonstrated that a line of research will begin with a simple question. That question is then addressed with a relatively small amount of data. This initial answer spurs further interest and questions, requiring further data and research. This process of continuous question and answer is the heart of our research activities.

IPA’s research is separated into three distinct areas:

• Special Studies: Topic originates with a single client
• Multi-Client Studies: Areas of research of more general interest
• Advisory Services: Periodic consulting that builds from previously collected data
