The execution phase is defined by IPA as the period from the start of detailed engineering to the end of construction (mechanical completion). During this phase, the project team is converting the process development package that was developed for the authorization estimate and schedule into detailed engineering drawings that will be used for construction of the project. The execution phase is considered complete when the project is mechanically complete and the project team is transitioning the project to the startup team members.
IPA offers several products and services to teams that have entered the execution phase to guide them through execution or to assist them in the next phase of the project life cycle, as shown below:
Startup Readiness Review
Aids project teams in assessing the project’s startup plans and provides Best Practices for startup planning, which can be used to plan for a better and more effective startup
Project Recovery Analysis
Aids in the evaluation of the key problem areas of a specific project and provides advice on how to restructure a project or project team to allow the project to achieve its specific goals
