Carlos Tapia

Carlos Tapia is the Regional Director of Centro de Proyectos Latinoamericanos (CPLA), IPA’s Latin American operations. In this position, he is responsible for overseeing IPA’s increasing involvement in all business sectors in the Latin America region, with a particular focus on oil and gas exploration and production, refining and petrochemicals, and mining and minerals processing.

Carlos joined IPA in 1996 as a Project Analyst in the Refining and Upstream areas. He very quickly became involved in the analysis of projects in Latin America and in the development of IPA’s business in the region, which subsequently led to the opening of CPLA in 2002.

Prior to joining IPA, Carlos attended graduate school at the University of Rochester in New York where he obtained Master and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering. Before that, he worked in several different industries, including brewing, refining, and chemical commodities trading.
