JOB SUMMARY

Independent Project Analysis, Inc. (IPA) is a global consulting firm based in Ashburn, VA, that evaluates capital project systems for the process industries. Our clients include many well-known premier industrial and pharmaceutical companies in all regions of the world. We have an opening for an Accounts Payable Staff Accountant to work in our corporate (Ashburn) headquarters. We are looking for an individual who is detail-oriented and can handle a broad range of responsibilities in a busy professional environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and process all Ashburn vendor invoices and employee expense reports and related activities including weekly check run and setting up new vendors
  • Work with vendors to resolve billing issues and discrepancies
  • Perform G/L account reconciliations including preparing necessary journal entries
  • Maintain Fixed Assets schedule
  • Handle office petty cash and foreign currency advances
  • Maintain deferred rent schedule
  • Process year-end 1099s
  • Assist year-end audit when needed
  • Serve as Accounts Receivable backup

REQUIREMENTS

  • Four year accounting degree
  • Very high level of attention to detail and accurate data entry capability
  • Excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels within the company and with vendors
  • Excellent judgment and discretion in performing duties
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and to produce quality work within deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years of work experience in Accounting
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL (Solomon) desired
