ABOUT THE ROLE

IPA in the United Kingdom is seeking candidates for our Project Analyst, Downstream position with a proven track record in: analysing risks, practices, and performance in the chemical, refining, or pharmaceutical process industries. Candidates will also require strong analytical skills and intellectual curiosity and be looking to contribute as a thought leader. The candidate’s interest in studying the factors that determine success in complex, technologically advanced projects and organisations is critical. The role requires successful candidates to carry out project analysis using quantitative and statistical data. Aptitude for and demonstrated skills to be a successful analyst include your ability to connect real life with the data and vice versa and to know when to ask more questions and when to just listen as well as how to back yourself as you learn and thrive.

Responsibilities of the Project Analyst, Downstream role include client-interfacing work to collect and analyse project technical data, writing reports with insight and a customer focus, delivering verbal (including virtual delivery) feedback and public presentations as well as working directly with capital project teams and project organisations to improve business competitiveness. Responsibilities also include conducting research on drivers of project success or failure using statistics and a projects database.

Capital project analysts must have excellent written and oral communication skills and display the interpersonal skills needed to develop and maintain relationships at senior levels with client companies and across settings, both in person and over virtual platforms. The position requires solid analytical skills and the ability to analyse and understand various levels of metrics in the assessment of a project’s overall status.

  • Salary/Rate: £32,000‒£40,000 per annum, depending on experience

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masters preferred or Bachelor degree or equivalent in engineering, science (physics, chemistry, petroleum, geology), statistics, operations research, economics, or allied fields
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant experience operating in your field of education
  • Proven record of carrying out independent research
  • Proven record of using a variety of statistical methods to analyse large amounts of data

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES

  • Demonstrable superior English language written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel functions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to successfully liaise with people from other cultures
  • Excellent listening, presentation, and report writing skills with strong attention to detail
  • Able to demonstrate intellectual curiosity and organisational leadership
  • Language skills for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East would be advantageous but not essential; preference for candidates with language skills (written and oral) of Russian or German

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS
