The cost engineering and project controls functions play a critical role in the success of owner capital project organizations. IPA’s cost engineering committees provide their member companies with the research, metrics, and tools needed to strengthen these functions.
A sub-committee of the IBC, the Cost Engineering Committee (CEC) focuses on advancing the owner cost engineering and project controls capabilities of the world’s leading industrial companies in capital-intensive sectors, such as Hydrocarbon Processing & Transportation, Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Life Sciences, Mining, Minerals & Metals, Food & Consumer Products, Pulp & Paper, and Power & Infrastructure.
Member companies meet annually to discover the latest IPA research and industry trends, and receive cost engineering tools and models, as well as a suite of cost and schedule metrics. Member company representatives use the information and tools to validate and prepare unbiased project cost and schedule targets and ultimately improve business results.
A sub-committee of the UIBC, the Upstream Cost Engineering Committee (UCEC) focuses on advancing the owner cost engineering and project controls capabilities of its member companies in the exploration & production industry. Companies belonging to the UCEC range from super majors and national owner companies (including those with partial state ownership) to majors and independents.
Just as with the CEC, a conference is held each year to deliver the latest IPA research and discuss upstream industry trends. UCEC member companies receive cost engineering tools, models, summary cost metrics, detailed/unit cost metrics, and conceptual cost metrics to aid in validating and preparing unbiased project cost and schedule targets and ultimately improve business results.
