IPA’s Part in the Global Energy Transition Journey
Like our energy sector clients, IPA has been preparing for the global energy transition for some time. This article sheds light on some of the challenges energy companies can expect to face in the coming years, and highlights our recent initiatives to help companies improve the capital competitiveness of their clean energy and GHG emissions abatement projects. IPA has been a trusted to advisor companies across industrial sectors for more than three decades, and we will continue to advance our benchmarking and research capabilities to support traditional energy clients, as well as firms involved with new energy and low carbon projects, during the energy transition and beyond.

Join IPA’s Offshore Wind Benchmarking Study
IPA is launching a multi-client study to establish cost and schedule benchmarks for recently completed and ongoing offshore wind projects. The companies that participate in this study will gain insights into how their projects’ cost and schedule performance and estimates compare to the competition, and how to set competitive, yet achievable, targets for future investments. More details on the study, including how to join, are included in this issue.

Case Study: Performance Assurance Challenges for Renewable Projects
IPA works with renewable energy project owners, developers, and investors to help improve their work processes, understand and improve key factors of cost and schedule performance, and invest shareholder capital effectively. This case study reviews how IPA helped a company understand the importance of assessing the adequacy of existing agreements and project assurance work in order to deliver improved project performance.

IPA Carbon Working Group Advances GHG Performance Metrics, New Research Initiatives
Launched in April 2020, the IPA-led Carbon Working Group (CWG) is a voluntary group of 15 integrated energy and exploration and production (E&P) owner firms working together to advance the energy industry’s low-carbon agenda. For those interested in joining this free and voluntary initiative, this article summarizes the group’s accomplishments thus far and current research plans.

The Project Sponsor Role Still Does Not Get the Attention It Demands: IPA Research
Our latest research study on the project sponsor role confirms that project organizations are not doing enough to define and bolster this essential role. In this article, IPA Capital Solutions Director Allison Aschman and Associate Project Analyst Alexey Rasseykin summarize the findings and provide insights into how organizations can give the sponsor role the attention it deserves.
