Highlights

The IPA Institute

The IPA Institute provides education programs in the capital process. These programs link project management practices with improved business value.

IPA Project Analyst Keith Mayo will participate in a discussion on contracting strategies at the Construction Owners Association of Alberta (COAA) Best Practices Conference from May 15 to 16 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Independent Project Analysis (IPA) is performing research to examine how companies and project teams all over the world address sustainability issues in capital projects.

Capital spending is up in 2012, with sites not only doing more projects compared to last year, but also more "large" small projects. IPA data show that the larger site-based projects typically perform worse than smaller projects. IPA Manager of Plant-Based Systems Phyllis Kulkarni provides an explanation along with some important things to consider.

At the Industry Benchmarking Consortium (IBC) 2012, IPA recognized the Dow Chemical Company and Alyeska Pipeline Services Company for excellent small project performance.

IPA Manager of Plant-Based Systems Phyllis Kulkarni sheds some light on IPA's Upstream Business Unit Benchmarking (UBUB) that is used to benchmark a full suite of offshore and onshore petroleum exploration and production projects.
